Mike Knight
I was one of the founder members of Radio Jackie in 1969 and I am now the only original member still working for the station (Dave Owen joined a few weeks later!) and the only person to have stayed with Radio Jackie throughout its entire existence. I was born in Hammersmith in 1952 living in Wimbledon until 1958 when I moved to Sutton where I remained until 1995 when I moved to Swanley, Kent where I now live with my partner Bernie. My favourite music is 50's & 60's with a particular liking for slow melodic ballads and girl groups. I have in the past been an avid record collector and over the years have amassed a huge vinyl collection of 50,000 singles and 20,000 albums with only a handful of CD's. My main interest is industrial & military archaeology and underground exploration which consumes most of my spare time with field trips taking me literally to all corners of the UK and many places in Europe. In recent years I have spent many enjoyable weeks in former East German researching Soviet military installations. When I'm not 'out and about', I'm at the computer adding new material to the Subterranea Britannica (www.subbrit.org.uk) web site, a society that researches man made and man used underground spaces. As well as producing most of the material for their vast web site I am also membership secretary. I love most foods in excess and dislike most sport, especially football. |
