Russell Holding
I was born in London and have
lived in Ewell all my life.
Went to Stoneleigh County First and Middle Schools before going to Ewell
Castle School in 1978.
Got interested in radio as a child, listening to Radio Jackie’s
original broadcasts. Favourite presenters at the time included Jimi King,
Mike Knight, Dickie Allen, Dave Small and Phil Kennedy.
Inspired by what I heard, I joined Epsom Hospital Radio to learn how to
be a radio presenter.
I was one of the founders of Eclipse FM, a local cable radio station based
firstly in Epsom, and then in the Times Square Shopping Centre in Sutton.
Today, as well as presenting on Radio Jackie, I am also the voice of traffic
and travel news on Classic FM’s flagship breakfast show with Simon
Bates, and can also be seen from time to time presenting travel bulletins
on GMTV.
I enjoy walking, cycling, swimming and music.
My favourite place in South-West London is probably Epsom Downs. You can
wander off there and get lost in the beautiful countryside.
