I was born in Hammersmith and have lived in North Surrey all my life. I love the variety of the area - from mountain biking on Box Hill, through shopping in Kingston to dining out in Wimbledon Village. When I was a kid I was convinced that Tolworth Tower was a fully-grown skyscraper - it's surreal to now be working in its shadow! I've always been into pop music - the first record I bought was My Boy Lollipop by Millie. It was on the "Music For Pleasure" rack at the till in Bishops Supermarket (now Budgens) in Hook. I remember it cost about 5 pence - and I've still got it, although I have now downloaded it from iTunes to get it in digital! In my teens I'd buy 3 or 4 singles a week from Our Price on Wimbledon Broadway. Even now, if I hear a song on air from the past that I don't have in my record collection, I hit the web to download it. I'm really into cars too. For as long as I can remember, I've been a big VW fan. I've restored two - a 1963 Deluxe Beetle which I turned into a Herbie The Lovebug replica and a 1983 Mk1 Golf GTi, which eventually I sold to Fifth Gear and they gave it away as a competition prize. A few years back I bought a Brazilian made VW Kombi - which is the same as the 1970s Classic T2 Campervan. I now run a web based club for enthusiasts of this particular VW and we start the campervan season by having a stand at the massive VW show held each Spring at Sandown Park. |
